Why I Finally Created a Place for the Messy Parts
For a long time, I think I tried to make my life look easier to explain than it actually was.
You know the version people see from the outside. The pictures. The accomplishments. The jokes. The “I’m fine.” The parts that are easy to post and easy for other people to understand.
But there is always more behind it.
There is the overthinking. The grief. The healing. The mistakes. The responsibilities. The dreams that somehow survive even when you are exhausted. The relationships that change you. The nights when your brain will not shut off. The mornings when you get up and keep going anyway.
There is the girl behind the chaos.
And that is why I created this blog.
I did not create The Girl Behind the Chaos because I have life figured out. I created it because I very much do not.
I am still learning how to balance being a mother and still being my own person. I am still chasing dreams that sometimes scare me because of how badly I want them. I am still learning what healthy love looks like, what boundaries feel like, and how to stop abandoning myself just to keep other people comfortable. I am still figuring out how to live inside a body and a mind that do not always cooperate with the plans I make.
Some days I feel incredibly strong.
Other days I feel like I am held together by caffeine, dark humor, sheer stubbornness, and whatever song happens to be playing loud enough in the car.
Both versions are me.
That is something I want this space to reflect.
I do not want this blog to become another perfectly curated corner of the internet where every painful chapter magically ends with a beautiful lesson and everyone wakes up healed, productive, hydrated, and emotionally stable.
That is not how real life works.
Sometimes healing is beautiful.
Sometimes healing is ugly crying in a parking lot and then remembering you still need groceries.
Sometimes growth looks like walking away.
Sometimes it looks like staying.
Sometimes it looks like admitting you were wrong.
Sometimes it looks like finally realizing you deserved better.
And sometimes growth is nothing more dramatic than making it through a day that felt impossible.
I want to talk about all of it here.
Love and heartbreak.
Motherhood.
Mental health.
Chronic illness.
Grief.
Relationships.
School.
Careers.
Dreams.
Starting over.
Feeling behind.
Feeling too much.
Learning not to make yourself smaller.
And probably a fair amount of completely unhinged thoughts that sounded profound at 3 a.m.
Because that is real too.
I think a lot of us spend years becoming the person everyone needs us to be.
The dependable one.
The strong one.
The caregiver.
The fixer.
The person who says, “I’ve got it,” even when she absolutely does not have it.
Eventually, you have to ask yourself a different question:
Who am I when I am not busy surviving everything?
I am still answering that.
Maybe I always will be.
But I think there is something beautiful about becoming a person you have not completely met yet.
There is something beautiful about looking at your life—even the messy parts—and realizing you are still here.
Still loving.
Still dreaming.
Still trying.
Still becoming.
So this blog is my place to stop pretending that the chaos cancels out the beauty.
Maybe they have always existed together.
Maybe some of the strongest, softest, most interesting parts of us were built somewhere inside the mess.
If you are reading this and your life feels unfinished, complicated, overwhelming, beautiful, heartbreaking, or all of those things at once, you are welcome here.
You do not need to have yourself figured out.
Clearly, neither do I.
We can figure it out somewhere along the way.
Welcome to The Girl Behind the Chaos.
Finding beauty somewhere between surviving and becoming.
Until next time,
the girl behind the chaos. 🖤
